Political and Social Media Fellow
About LPAC
LPAC’s mission is to elect LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary candidates to public office at the federal, state, and local level. Since it was founded in 2012, LPAC has invested millions of dollars in building political strength for and with LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary people.
The 2024 election cycle was LPAC’s most ambitious since the committee was founded. LPAC endorsed and contributed to a record number of LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary candidates and carried out important research on the civic engagement of LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary people.
Position Summary & Responsibilities
We are seeking a Political and Social Media Fellow to join our team for a three month stipend position. We are looking for motivated individuals with experience in and passion for social media who are interested in LGBTQ+ civic engagement and political participation. The goals of this fellowship are to help further develop your skills in a professional work environment through hands-on, industry-related experience and mentorship opportunities, and to make an impact on our work and culture by bringing your valuable skills and perspectives.
As an LPAC Fellow, you will work closely with our Communications and Political Directors to support LPAC’s endorsement and election day process, develop concise, relevant short-form content for TikTok and Instagram about our candidates, our endorsed elected officials, and about LGBTQ+ and nonbinary political participation, with a target audience of queer and nonbinary Gen Z individuals. You will also track analytics and report on content engagement and relevant audience reach.
Key responsibilities:
Closely monitor Google alerts, breaking news and video/meme content from our endorsed candidates and electeds that can be reshared with our own lens
Develop humorous, engaging short form video and graphic content, including but not limited to applying TikTok trends to LPAC’s work, relevant memes, direct clips of electeds, candidates and leadership speaking on timely topics, explainers for relevant current events.
Research emerging trends, challenges, hashtags and memes to determine what can be applied to our work, as well as innovative digital engagement strategies
Track the analytics of your posted content, including engagement and reach
Support LPAC’s endorsement program, which involves sourcing, interviewing, and recommending candidates for endorsement to the PAC Board of Directors.
Support the creation of holistic primary, runoff, and general election day plans for LPAC to highlight and support endorsed candidates.
Work with the Political Director and Director of Communications to spotlight endorsees and find press/social media opportunities for prioritized candidates.
Clean and maintain LPAC’s historic candidate database.
About you:
Minimum of 2 years of social media work experience, preferably in the political, nonprofit or social impact sector (open to considering other social media writing experience)
Proficient in researching, writing, and editing social content including short-form video scripts
Familiarity with and interest in federal, state and local politics
Experience in video production and post-production for social media
Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear and compelling manner
Familiarity with best practices in social media content creation
Fluency in social media trends and best practices for engagement
Passion for LGBTQ+ and nonbinary inclusion
A team player with a collaborative spirit
Campaign experience a plus

Location: United States (fully remote)
Compensation: $1500, $500/month for 3 months, 5 hours per week (part-time/non-exempt)
Reports to: Joanna Hoffman, Communications Director and Michelle Atwood, Political Director
