LPAC is the only organization whose mission is to elect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer women and nonbinary people.
LPAC was founded in 2012 by a group of LGBTQ women seeking to create a place, and voice, at the power table for our community. At the time of our founding, the scarcity of queer women and nonbinary candidates prompted LPAC to also support staunch allies who championed LGBTQ rights nationwide. These allies have been pivotal in shaping a political environment where queer candidates are now empowered and feel safe to pursue office.
We do this by endorsing and investing in candidates directly and supporting them through independent expenditure campaigns. We’ve raised more than $7.1 million and endorsed more than 255 candidates. And we’re just getting started.
LPAC’s focus is on electing LGBTQ women and nonbinary candidates who share our values: LGBTQ and women’s equality, women’s health, and social justice, while helping coalesce LGBTQ women as a concrete and powerful political demographic.
If you are running for office and would like to find out more about our endorsement process, please contact us.
Our Values
LGBTQ Rights
There are no federal protections for LGBTQ people in the workplace or in housing, and state-level protections are erratic. Same-sex marriage is legal federally, but 13 states still prohibit it at the state level, making us one conservative Supreme Court decision away from disaster. LGBTQ Americans must be fully equal under our laws.
Women’s Equality
With the ongoing assault on women’s rights at the federal and state levels, it’s more important than ever to elect politicians who will put women’s protections front and center of their platforms. Reproductive choice and maternal support are non-negotiable values – full stop.
Social Justice
All people in America — regardless of race, sexual orientation or gender identity, class, geography, or immigration status — deserve a fair shake. We deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. LPAC endorses candidates who put this intersectional perspective into practice in their campaign platforms and political actions.
LPAC builds the political power of LGBTQ women by electing candidates – all of whom are LGBTQ women or nonbinary – who champion LGBTQ rights, women’s equality, and social justice.
LPAC achieves its mission by increasing the political power and engagement of LGBTQ women and their allies, and by building a network of LGBTQ women who take political action.
We are a unique demographic that’s been overlooked in national debates and decision-making for far too long. We demand a voice in the debate and a seat at the table. Together, we are a force to be reckoned with – and of course, a force for good.
We build the political power of LGBTQ women across the country;
We work at the intersection of LGBTQ rights, women’s equality, and social justice to fight for a broader, more inclusive agenda;
We steward your dollars by keeping administrative costs low to effectively invest your generous contribution;
We bundle your donations – from the $5 donor to the $50,000 donor – to make the greatest possible impact; and,
We support outspoken champions running for public office at the local, state, and national level by raising resources for these campaigns from our network across the country.

Project LPAC
Project LPAC’s mission is to study, compile and disseminate empirical research about LGBTQ women as a political community, with a particular focus on those who are economically challenged, transgender, and/or women of color. The goal is to share the findings of this research with organizations, corporations and NGOs so that they can be fully inclusive in their efforts to empower and increase the involvement of LGBTQ women in society.
