About LPAC
LPAC’s mission is to elect LGBTQ women to public office at the federal, state, and local level. Since it was founded in 2012, LPAC has invested millions of dollars in building political strength for and with LGBTQ women.
The 2022 election cycle was LPAC’s most ambitious since the committee was founded. LPAC endorsed and contributed to a record number of LGBTQ women candidates and carried out important research on the civic engagement of LGBTQ women.
Position Summary & Responsibilities
The Director of Development will contribute to LPAC’s mission by ensuring the organization meets its fundraising and budgetary goals to carry its essential work supporting LGBTQ women candidates. The position can be remote or based in Washington, DC.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Create a comprehensive finance plan including (but not limited to) major donor cultivation, small dollar fundraising, and events.
Foster relationships, manage fundraising communications, and create giving plans for current major donors around the country.
Implement plan to identify, engage with, and solicit portfolio of 150-200 major donor prospects with capacity to donate $5,000 or more annually.
Closely work with the Executive Director to raise funds by identifying major donor targets, organizing opportunities for high-level engagement (dinners, political briefings, etc.), establishing call time procedures, etc.
Work strategically with the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and other staff to ensure donors feel connected to LPAC and its mission.
Oversee program of signature fundraising events throughout the country.
Develop and strengthen relationships with key leaders at other progressive groups for the purpose of organizational fundraising.
Experience & Qualifications
A passion for LPAC’s mission.
4-5+ years of experience in organizational fundraising.
Demonstrable record of personally implementing successful major donor fundraising programs (including soliciting gifts independently and in collaboration with others) is a must.
Experience fundraising from organizations a major plus.
Possess excellent writing and communications skills.
Ability to self-direct and work independently while keeping the Executive Director informed of progress towards fundraising goals.
Strong organizational and follow through skills.
Readiness to think creatively and innovatively around “selling” why donors should contribute to an organization like LPAC.
Understanding of political landscape regarding women’s rights, LGBTQ equality, and social justice.
Willingness to travel and work beyond typical business hours.
Proficient computer skills, familiarity with NGP VAN is a plus
Compensation: Salary range for the Director of Development is $110,000 – $125,000 annually commensurate with experience. LPAC offers benefits including fully paid health/vision/dental insurance and generous paid time off.
