Beth Tuura
Beth Tuura ran for Florida State House’s 47th District in 2016, losing to the incumbent despite an endorsement from then-President Obama.
A native of Seattle, Tuura moved to Orlando in 1994. She started in broadcasting as a camera operator; her first boss told her he didn’t believe women could succeed in the field. She has since won three Emmys and covered events like the Olympics, the Kentucky Derby, and the Super Bowl. Tuura and her wife, whom she married in Massachusetts in 2014 just before the nation gained federal marriage equality, live in Orlando.
