Christy Holstege

Palm Springs City Councilmember Christy Holstege is a Democrat running for election to the California State Assembly in the 47th District, the top target pickup for Assembly Democrats in 2024.

Holstege currently serves on the Palm Springs City Council and served as the Mayor of Palm Springs from 2021-2022. She was first elected to the Council in 2017. Holstege ran for this seat in 2022 and lost by a razor-thin margin of 85 votes. Outside of politics Holstege is a civil litigation attorney.

Holstege’s priorities are increasing access to affordable housing and combatting homelessness, fostering regional economic development, and protecting the environment. She would be the first openly bisexual woman to serve in the State Assembly.
