Clarisa Alayeto is a passionate community advocate, public servant, and candidate for New York City Council in District 8. A proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Clarisa's roots are deeply embedded in the neighborhoods she seeks to represent.
Born in East Harlem and raised in the South Bronx, she grew up in public housing as the daughter of Cuban immigrants, raised by her Puerto Rican grandmother. Her lived experience shapes her commitment to fighting for working-class families, social justice, and equality. Clarisa’s advocacy is driven by personal experiences of poverty, attending public schools, and witnessing the impact of gun violence on her community. Her professional work focuses on connecting community needs with policy solutions, particularly in youth, education, and equity.
As Chairperson of Community Board 1, Clarisa champions environmental justice, affordable housing, and increased green spaces in the Bronx. She is also a vocal advocate for health awareness and promoting healthier living in underserved communities.
Clarisa is the wife of a lifelong educator and the mother of a college student. Her leadership is defined by authenticity, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to progress and inclusion. Clarisa’s vision aligns with LPAC’s commitment to LGBTQ+ equality, women’s rights, and social justice, making her a powerful voice for positive change.
