DeShanna Neal
DeShanna Neal is a Democrat running for re-election to the Delaware State House of Representatives.
First elected in 2022 when they unseated a 16-year Democratic incumbent, DeShanna Neal was the first out nonbinary person elected to the Delaware legislature. Neal, a mother of four, started their fight for trans rights after their daughter, Trinity, was denied gender affirming care through Medicaid; they fought for eight months and won, with Neal’s daughter becoming the first trans minor in the state to get access to gender-affirming care.
Neal wrote a (now banned) children's book titled My Rainbow and started their state's first Drag Queen Story Hour.
