Ed Markey

 

 

Ed Markey has been the junior senator from Massachusetts since 2013, when he won a special election to replace John Kerry.

Before that, he was the US Representative for Massachusetts's 7th congressional district from 1976 to 2013. He also served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1973 to 1976.

Markey has degrees from Boston College and Boston Law School, and is married to Susan Blumenthal, a senior fellow at the New America Foundation and a former assistant attorney general.
