Jess Hanson

Jess Hanson is a Democratic-Farmer-Labor candidate running for re-election to the Minnesota State House of Representatives.

Jess Hanson is a millennial, middle-class mom who knows what it's like to struggle to make ends meet like so many people she represents. She was a teen mom from poverty and became a first generation college grad with a bachelor's in social work and a Master's in Advocacy and Political Leadership. Hanson won her first campaign during the pandemic as a solo mom to two kids while juggling a full time job, bills and home management, and her final year of grad school.

Since her election, Hanson has worked on policies like Logan's Law that enshrined trans, nonbinary, and queer parents and their kids equal protections under the law as heterosexual parents.
