Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes is a Democrat running for an open seat in the California State Senate.

Cervantes was first elected to the Assembly in 2016, when she unseated a two-term Republican incumbent with 54 percent of the vote. She is the first Democrat, woman of color and LGBTQ woman to hold her Assembly seat and her district covers just over half of the State Senate district.

Cervantes serves as the Chair of the Latino Legislative Caucus Cervantes and has authored 39 bills that have been signed into law during her time in office. She is also a mother to triplets.
