Sasha Renée Pérez

Alhambra City Councilmember Sasha Renée Pérez is a Democrat running for an open seat in the California State Senate.

Pérez was elected to the Alhambra City Council in 2020, unseating a Republican incumbent with 58 percent of the vote citywide. She is the daughter of two union workers and a first-generation college graduate. Throughout her career in state policy work she has advocated for equitable policies in higher education and has led coalitions to improve college access, success, and affordability.

This is a solidly Democratic district that covers the Los Angeles County foothills and northeastern parts of the city of LA over to the city of Upland in San Bernardino County. Pérez is focused on affordable housing, affordability in higher education, and racial equity and public health.
