Sophia Hawes-Tingey

Sophia Hawes-Tingey is running for an at-large seat on West Valley City Council in Utah.

Hawes-Tingey is a principal software engineer and US Navy Veteran who first got involved in politics in 2014, when the Utah Attorney General was targeting the rights of LGBTQ people. She has served as a House District Chair for her local Democratic Party and has served on the Board for the Utah ACLU. Hawes-Tingey relocated to West Valley from Midvale after her landlord sold her longtime home from under her and she aims to address housing issues in office.

Hawes-Tingey is focused on advocating for trans rights, environmental issues, and more equitable healthcare access.
