LPAC Endorses Satya Rhodes-Conway for Mayor of Madison, WI
Washington, DC (February 4, 2019) — LPAC, the only organization devoted to building the political power of LGBTQ women, announced today the endorsement of Satya Rhodes-Conway for mayor of Madison, WI.
“Satya Rhodes-Conway is the leader Madison needs right now,” said LPAC executive director Stephanie Sandberg. “She is a progressive, experienced voice for good who will help build Madison into a city that better represents its citizens.”
Rhodes-Conway is the managing director for the Mayor’s Innovation Project at the University of Wisconsin, a nationwide network with a focus on good governance. Her platform prioritizes expanding affordable housing, implementing bus rapid transit, working towards racial equity and preparing for the effects of climate change. If elected, the former city councilor would be the second woman, and the first lesbian, elected to the role. The nonpartisan primary is February 19, with a run-off between top two vote-getters scheduled for April 2.
Rhodes-Conway is LPAC’s fourth endorsement of 2019, following Lori Lightfoot for mayor of Chicago, IL, Jolie Justus for mayor of Kansas City, MO, and Jane Castor for mayor of Tampa, FL.
