LPAC endorses Eliz Markowitz for Texas State House
Washington, DC (October 24, 2019) — LPAC, the only organization devoted to building the political power of LGBTQ women, is endorsing Dr. Eliz Markowitz for Texas State House of Representatives (28th District).
It’s a special election to fill a seat vacated by a Republican incumbent who left to take a job at the University of Texas, and Markowitz is the only Democrat of seven candidates vying for the seat next month.
“Eliz would make a stellar lawmaker,” said LPAC Executive Director Stephanie Sandberg. “She a brilliant educator with a vision that would be a great asset to the House’s LGBTQ caucus, and the chamber as a whole.”
Markowitz is running on a platform focused on education, disaster management, and healthcare.
Democrats need to flip nine seats in the Texas House to take the majority there next year, a stretch goal that would get slightly easier with Markowitz in office.
