LPAC Announces Departure of Lisa Turner As Executive Director

Today, the LPAC Board of Directors has announced the departure of Executive Director, Lisa Turner, after more than six years with the committee.

Founded in 2012 by a collective of LGBTQ+ women, LPAC has been empowering and electing LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary candidates to public office through endorsements, direct investments, and independent expenditure campaigns, LPAC has fostered a platform for LGBTQ+ women’s representation, raising over $7 million for endorsed candidates and supporting more than 500 individuals since its inception.

Reflecting on her tenure, Lisa Turner said, "Leading LPAC has been a privilege, and I am proud of the work we did building the committee into the only organization in Washington dedicated to increasing the number of LGBTQ+ women serving in public office. During my tenure expanding the reach of LPAC with the addition of LPAC Action Network and Project LPAC has been extremely gratifying. It was a vision of our founder Urvashi Vaid to grow LPAC’s work for our community and I only wish she were here today to see how far we have come. I will miss the mission and the difference we made in the lives of people who benefit from LGBTQ+ women serving in office at the local, state and federal level.

Former Board member and now interim Executive Director, Janelle Perez expressed gratitude for Turner's contributions, stating, "We want to thank Lisa for her invaluable leadership in establishing LPAC as a formidable force for LGBTQ+ women’s representation. As we embark on this new chapter, we are poised to make an even greater impact in 2024 with a dedicated team and unwavering support from our Board members and allies."

Shari Weiner, LPAC's newly appointed Board Chair, will oversee the search for a new Executive Director, with further details to be announced in the coming weeks.

LPAC remains steadfast in its commitment to electing LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary candidates who champion LGBTQ+ and women's equality, healthcare access, and social justice. By mobilizing LGBTQ+ women as a potent political demographic, LPAC continues to drive progress toward a more inclusive and equitable society.
