Washington, D.C. –Today, LPAC, the nation’s only organization dedicated to advancing the political representation of LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary candidates, announced that former interim Executive Director Janelle Perez has now been named the official Executive Director.

Perez, who has served as Interim Director since January, was the LPAC-endorsed Democratic nominee in the election for Florida State Senate District 38 in 2022. She is an advocate, policymaker, and small business owner. A graduate of Florida International University and The Johns Hopkins University, Janelle currently lives in Pinecrest, FL with her wife and two daughters.

“I am so pleased that Janelle has decided to stay on as Executive Director of LPAC,” said Shari Weiner, Chair of the Board at LPAC. “The actions she has taken,  while serving as Interim Executive Director, propelled LPAC into a nationally recognized LGBTQ+ organization. It is my honor to continue to serve as LPAC Board Chair,  as LPAC grows its impact on the national political scene.”

“I’m honored to lead LPAC forward as the official Executive Director,” said Janelle Perez. “In the time since I’ve joined the team, I’ve worked to expand LPAC’s reach and get the word out about the power of LGBTQ+ and nonbinary leadership, as well as the importance of representation in politics. As a former political candidate myself, I know that it takes trailblazers to change the face of politics, and it’s hard to be a trailblazer without robust support. LPAC is here to provide that support, and I’m excited for what we can continue to build moving forward.”
