“LPAC is proud of this partnership with Made it Out, and excited for listeners to learn more about the incredible candidates we support,” said Janelle Perez, Executive Director of LPAC. “Kicking off on National Voter Registration Day, we look forward to educating the public about their rights as voters and introducing them to incredible out queer women and nonbinary candidates across the country who are fighting for LGBTQ rights up and down the ballot. We need all hands on deck to see victories in November, and this series is a great onramp to getting involved.”
“It is important for us to use our platform in a way that uplifts and empowers our community. Part of that is making information more accessible and digestible,” said Mal Glowenke. “We couldn’t be more excited about our partnership with LPAC and the incredible candidates our listeners will have the opportunity to hear from, and also the chance we were given to involve more lesbian creators/artists to make learning political concepts fun and GAY!”
The voter education series aims to empower listeners with the knowledge and confidence to engage in the upcoming 2024 election. Each episode will feature an LPAC-endorsed political candidate discussing ballot issues that directly impact the LGBTQIA+ community and sharing personal stories to show how politics directly affects people's lives. Guests and episode topics are: Senator Tammy Baldwin on marriage equality, Lauren Ashley Simmons on the anti-LGBTQIA+ agenda, Senator Molly Cook on abortion, Erin Maye Quade on reproductive freedom, Becca Balint on Project 2025, and special celebrity guest, out Olympian, World Cup and National Women’s Soccer League champion Ali Krieger.
About LPAC:
LPAC is the only national organization whose mission is to elect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer women and nonbinary people. LPAC was founded in 2012 by a group of LGBTQ women seeking to create a place, and voice, at the power table for our community. At the time of our founding, the scarcity of queer women and nonbinary candidates prompted LPAC to also support staunch allies who championed LGBTQ rights nationwide. These allies have been pivotal in shaping a political environment where queer candidates are now empowered and feel safe to pursue office.
We do this by endorsing and investing in candidates directly and supporting them through independent expenditure campaigns. We’ve raised more than $7.1 million and endorsed more than 255 candidates. And we’re just getting started.
LPAC’s focus is on electing LGBTQ women and nonbinary candidates who share our values: LGBTQ and women’s equality, women’s health, and social justice, while helping coalesce LGBTQ women as a concrete and powerful political demographic. Learn more: www.teamlpac.com.
About Made it Out :
Mal Glowenke is a pioneering force in the lesbian podcast scene, turning rejection into a successful platform that highlights queer voices. After setbacks with major networks, Mal, with her partner Mathilde Jourdan, launched "Made It Out" in November 2023 to fill a gap they felt as late-in-life lesbians. Leaving a director role in tech, Mal transitioned to LA's nightlife, building a following by sharing her experiences. When traditional media overlooked her vision, Mal used her community’s support to create "Made It Out," which quickly gained popularity, attracting over 305K listeners and earning a Webby Award Honoree for Best Video Podcast Series. The podcast, consistently ranking in Spotify’s Top 20 Society & Culture US Chart, features Mal’s raw discussions on queerness, religion, and personal struggles. Notable guests include E.R. Fightmaster, Becca Tilley, and Tayla Parx. Beyond the podcast, Mal is a prominent figure at LGBTQ+ events like LA’s Pride in the Park and GLAAD’s Tidings, establishing herself as a key voice in the community.
