Celia Israel

Former State Rep. Celia Israel is running for Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector in Texas.

A former four-term State Representative, Israel co-founded the LGBTQ Caucus in the Texas House. She ran a competitive campaign for Mayor of Austin in 2022, narrowly losing in the runoff election. Israel is a passionate advocate for LGBTQ and women’s rights and has consistently stood up to Republicans in defense of abortion rights and protections for trans children.

With a population of 1.3 million, Travis County is the fifth-most populous county in Texas and contains the state capital of Austin. The Tax Collector-Assessor collects taxes for 127 local government agencies and oversees voter registration processes. Israel is focused on responsive governing, voting rights, and affordability.
