Danica Roem
Danica Roem was the first openly transgender person elected to state legislative office in the U.S. She took her seat in the Virginia House of Delegates in 2018. She is seeking a seat in the State Senate in 2023.
Roem worked as a journalist before deciding to run for the House of Delegates in 2017. In the election she defeated an incumbent who had held the seat for 25 years by eight percentage points. LPAC previously endorsed her candidacy in 2017 and re-election campaigns in 2019 and 2021.
While in the House of Delegates, Roem has been a strong advocate for the issues that matter most to her constituents. In particular, she has been outspoken in her work to find solutions to fix traffic issues on Route 28.
