DuWayne Gregory

 
 

DuWayne Gregory is the presiding officer of the Suffolk County Legislature in Suffolk County, NY, the first person of color to hold the role. He ran unsuccessfully for the US House in 2016 and 2018.

A native Long Islander, Gregory’s prior experience in public service includes working for the town of Babylon as citizen’s advocate, where he was tasked with running, essentially, the town’s customer service department. He was elected to the Suffolk County Legislature in 2008, chaired the Budget and Finance Committee from then until 2012, and was elected to the top role in 2014.
