Liliana Bakhtiari

Liliana Bakhtiari is running for an open seat on the Atlanta City Council to represent the 5th district.

Bakhtiari previously ran for this seat in 2017 was defeated by just 252 votes in the primary. Following that election she started a PAC called Blue Neighbors Project, which focuses on electing Democrats in Georgia and raised significant amounts of money to support Democratic U.S. Senate candidates. She is also currently the Public Affairs Manager at Planned Parenthood Southeast.

Her campaign is focused on housing affordability, public safety, and infrastructure. Bakhtiari would be one of the first openly queer Muslim women ever elected to office in the United States.
