Liz Stefanics

State Senator Liz Stefanics is a Democrat running for re-election to the New Mexico State Senate.

Stefanics was the first LGBTQ person elected to the New Mexico State Legislature when she won a seat in the State Senate in 1992 and served for one term. She returned to the seat in 2016.

Stefanics previously served as the Executive Director of New Mexico AIDS Services and sat on the Santa Fe County Commission from 2009-2017. She has been a prominent advocate for LGBTQ rights and women’s reproductive rights during her time in public service.
