Rossana Rodríguez-Sánchez
Alder Rossana Rodríguez-Sánchez is running for re-election to the Chicago City Council (Ward 33).
Rodríguez-Sánchez was elected in 2019. Following the reversal of Roe v. Wade, she was the primary sponsor of an ordinance which made Chicago a “sanctuary city” for women seeking abortion health services in Chicago (it passed in September 2022). Prior to running for office, she ran theater programs in Puerto Rico and Chicago, and was a community activist.
She is focused on mental healthcare access, climate change, and affordable housing. She has been endorsed by many labor unions and political organizations, as well as Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.
