Washington D.C. (March 19, 2021) –  LPAC, the only organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ women to local, state, and federal office, today announces five new endorsements for the 2021-2022 election cycle.

This endorsement slate includes three past LPAC endorsees running for re-election, and two challengers seeking to swell the ranks of LGBTQ women in public office. See our full list of current endorsees here.

The candidates are:

  • Dana Nessel (Michigan Attorney General)

  • Heather Mizeur (U.S. House, MD-1)

  • Dawn Adams (Virginia House of Delegates)

  • Danica Roem (Virginia House of Delegates)

  • Shaeleigh Severino (New York City Council)

The incumbent endorsees, in particular, all made history with their first elections. Dana Nessel is the first openly LGBTQ person to serve as AG in Michigan (and just the second in the entire United States). Danica Roem is the first transgender person ever elected in the nation to a state legislature. And Dawn Adams is the first open lesbian elected to the Virginia House of Delegates.

"LPAC is proud to make these five key endorsements,” says Lisa Turner, LPAC’s Executive Director. ““The committee has an ambitious agenda this cycle to make early endorsements and investments so these trailblazing LGBTQ women are in position to win their races.”
