LPAC Stands with Sarah McBride
November 20, 2024 — LPAC was proud to endorse Sarah McBride -- an incredible, kind, and compassionate human being who has tirelessly championed transformative policies, including passing paid family and medical leave, increasing the minimum wage in Delaware, and creating a more equitable future for all. Delaware, and the entire US, is lucky to have her in Congress.
The proposed policy banning transgender women from using the restroom in the Capital, targeting Sarah McBride, is cruel and fails to address actual concerns of safety. Studies show no link between bathroom bans and safety, and trans women aren’t a threat —in fact, trans people are among the most vulnerable to violence, and these attacks are nothing more than a smear campaign to dehumanize them.
If Rep. Mace’s and Speaker Johnson’s bathroom ban was truly about creating safe spaces for women, why isn’t there more of an uproar from these same individuals about the fact that a man found liable of sexual abuse is our President-elect, and that several of his high-level appointees have been accused of sexual assault? Real safety starts with addressing real issues. If Nancy Mace and others truly want to make the Capital a safe space, let’s start there.
Trans individuals are our family, friends, and neighbors. They deserve respect and the freedom to live authentically.
