Sen. Quade and Rep. Finke to Lead MN Repro Freedom Caucus

Washington, D.C. –Today, LPAC, the nation’s only organization dedicated to advancing the political representation of LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary candidates, responded to news that the Minnesota Reproductive Freedom Caucus has named Minnesota Senator Erin Maye Quade (DFL-Apple Valley) as Senate Chair and Representative Leigh Finke (DFL-St. Paul) as House Chair. The Reproductive Freedom Caucus is a joint subcaucus of the Minnesota House and Senate to promote and protect the reproductive rights of all Minnesotans. It is the largest caucus in the Minnesota legislature. Both Maye Quade and Finke have been endorsed by LPAC in their previous campaigns.

“Reproductive freedom is a human rights issue, centered on each person’s right to bodily autonomy,” said Janelle Perez, Executive Director of LPAC. “All too often, LGBTQ+ women, and trans women in particular, are left out of the conversation about reproductive freedom, yet this is an issue that deeply affects all of our lives. Having two out LGBTQ+ women, Sen. Maye Quade and Rep. Finke, leading the Minnesota Reproductive Freedom Caucus, and especially two women who are fierce defenders of justice and equality, is a tremendous win for all Minnesotans and all Americans who believe in our fundamental rights. Reproductive healthcare and trans-inclusive healthcare are essential pillars in the fight for bodily autonomy - we cannot have one without the other. We thank the members of the Reproductive Freedom Caucus for recognizing this and electing Sen. Maye Quade and Rep. Finke to these important roles.

LPAC was extremely proud to endorse Sen. Maye Quade and Rep. Finke in their campaigns, and will continue to champion and celebrate their extraordinary dedication to service.”
