LPAC Statement on Voting Rights
Washington D.C. (January 19, 2022) – LPAC, the only organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ women to local, state, and federal office, releases the following statement on federal voting rights legislation:
“LPAC applauds Senator Tammy Baldwin’s leadership and commitment to protecting the voting rights of all Americans. LPAC’s mission is to elect LGBTQ women who, when in office, will champion the core values of LGBTQ rights, women's rights, and social justice. LPAC and its supporters have backed Senator Kyrsten Sinema in the past because of her stated commitment to our shared values. Any candidate wishing to have our support in the future must fully commit to protecting voting rights; anything less will fail to earn our endorsement. It is the only way that our community claims power in this political system. A commitment to voting rights, and civil rights generally, is central to LPAC's mission, and we believe that the U.S. Senate must pass the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the Freedom to Vote Act immediately.”
