Amelia McMillan

Amelia McMillan is running for a seat on the Central York School Board in Pennsylvania. In 2021, the board passed a far-reaching book ban.

McMillan first got involved in politics in 2020, when the all-Republican school board voted to discontinue diversity and inclusion efforts in schools, followed by the 2021 book ban. McMillan organized multiple protests in response and ran for school board in a 2021 special election. McMillan placed fourth in that top-two race with 23 percent of the vote.

McMillan is running on a slate with three other Democratic candidates. She has two children in the school district and heads the Mid-Atlantic chapter of a mental health outreach non-profit.
